A lot of timber – what sort is it? It soesn’t seem to have been treated, creasote or cuprinol for worm or damp. One might need a forest just to supply so much wood but the majority of plantations these days seem to be that tree weed, sitka spruce.
That was my job – to paint on the wood preservative – not possible to get underneath at the soffit without splashing it all over one’s face, but at least the season’s blackberries (better this year) took the taste away. The wood is pine, but not grown in Ireland.
